Food destination guides inspire us to stay off the chips!Created by Verity in Travel
There are certain times in our lives when we want to stick with what we know. We are in a strange place and we look for comfort… for something, sales anything, impotent that we recognise. And there they are…the golden arches or the words “British pub” on the side of a building and we are in like a shot! But then we feel bad, a bit weak perhaps, to be honest we feel like we have been a bit of a cop out.
When travelling abroad we have put ourselves in the ideal situation to try new things, to experiment. Yet, when it comes down to it, we are all too happy to stick with the familiar. So the clever people at Superbreak have tried to help us out. They have launched a range of food destination guides to help holidaymakers like us choose more inspiring food choices when abroad. What a good idea!
“Best Ice Cream in Paris:
Berthillon, 31 rue Saint-Louis en l’Ile, 75004, Paris
If you have only one ice cream cone in Paris, make sure it comes from Berthillon, described as an absolute favourite by many sweet-tooths. Boasting an astonishingly wide range of sorbets and ice-creams, Berthillon has something to suit everybody’s palette. Make sure you try the much loved caramel, a true Parisian favourite.”
It is reassurring to know that we are not alone in our cowardice… in a recent survey, 73 per cent described themselves as adventurous when it comes to food, yet nearly a third admitted refusing to try regional dishes when holidaying in Europe. Perhaps more shockingly, 48 per cent of the 1,000 people polled in the survey of holiday eating habits claimed that their trip would be ruined if they couldn’t find British food.
