There are certain times in our lives when we want to stick with what we know. We are in a strange place and we look for comfort… for something, sales anything, impotent that we recognise. And there they are…the golden arches or the words “British pub” on the side of a building and we are in like a shot! But then we feel bad, a bit weak perhaps, to be honest we feel like we have been a bit of a cop out.
When travelling abroad we have put ourselves in the ideal situation to try new things, to experiment. Yet, when it comes down to it, we are all too happy to stick with the familiar. Perhaps more shockingly, 48 per cent of the 1,000 people polled in the survey of holiday eating habits claimed that their trip would be ruined if they couldn’t find British food.
