The Fast Diet
Health benefits and easy to follow
Well it is a diet!
It could be said that I am a bit of a diet sceptic. In my youth, like many of us I am sure, I had no need for diets. It was always something everyone else had to worry about. However, as I am getting older and having been diagnosed with an under-active thyroid in my late 50s, it has become more important to me to eat more healthily and keeping track of my weight. Diets come and go, but this one seemed to be coming at me from all directions. My friends knew about it, my daughters too and the media was alive with tales of it’s success. So when asked to review it for Grannynet, I thought well why not? I read the RadioTimes article, I got the book and off I went. Simply put, you eat normally for 5 days a week, then for just 2 days you cut your calories to 500 using a very clear calorie counter. According to the theory, this not only helps the pounds to fly off but also lowers your risk of a range of diseases, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer (read the book – it kind of makes sense). Anyway, I can now say that I am a convert. I have lost weight, have more energy and it is now an everyday part of my life. I recommend you take a look at this diet – as it really is different from the rest and worth the hype.
