We had terrible trouble with one of our sons when he was 18/19/20 with stealing, aggression, damage to the bedroom and other places, dealing drugs from his bedroom at one point! There were almost violent rows sometimes. I know the feeling of not wanting to go home.
He is now 38 and only a few weeks ago he 'phoned me and was in tears apologising for what he put us through. He has two children now and something triggered his memory but he wouldn't say what. "I am so sorry for what I did/said" etc. etc. He is still a lively person but thank goodness not aggressive any more.
I did turn to the Samaritans at one point
