Does anyone have one of these?
How do you download the books on non-keypad versions of Kindle? Do you find the books expensive? |

Not something I'm at all interested in - can't see the point, myself - give me a real book any day.

Mine has a keyboard but i have never used this , I download from Amazon , it is easy to choose books from them , they have cheap and free books , but new novels might be the same price as the paper version

Aggie - my SIL has one, so I have seen it in action. He is gadget-mad and only got the Kindle because it's a new toy - he rarely reads anything and according to DD the Kindle is languishing in a cupboard, as it hasn't encouraged him to read any more than usual and she much prefers a book in her hands, like me.

Aggie, can you vary the size of the script? I find it difficult to read print for long. If I could make it larger it might help.

yes , my GS enlarged it for me , the script is very clear too. One thing I like is when you turn it on it takes you to the page you last read , and you can put it to audio but the voice is very monotonous

I have an e-reader, not Kindle as I did not want to be tied down to Amazon, so I went for a Sony, which is great. The price of e-books is competitive, originally there was VAT on them as they were considered to be an electrical item, but that is now being absorbed by the dealer. Kobo has just brought an e-reader out £89 pounds from W.H.Smiths, and Kobo is very good for its selection of books. Also you can download masses of books for free from the Gutenberg site. I have all of P.J>Woodhouse and have just read The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, great thriller writer.
Downloading can be confusing at first but once you get the hang, easy-peasy!!! I used it when I was going up to London every week and it'smarvellous in bed, no heavy book to support. Also check with your public library many now have the facilities for downloading e-books which could mean that you don't have to wait for that book which has just been published. |
