Default Good luck, little ones

Just a message for all the little ones who are starting school this week.

Enjoy your first day at school - and don't forget to let your grandparents know all about your first day, because they will have spent the day worrying about you.

No tears!!! thats from the twins! such relief! Mummy took first one to her class and settled her then the dreaded second one to hers and waited for kick off! Nothing said bye mummy and that was that. When they came out of their classes as soon as they saw each other they ran and hugged. A lot of Mums cooing at them.being cute.
They have to take clear water bottles in with them each day and at the end of their day they are checked to make sure they have had drinks. Ive never heard of this, is it the norm?? In each classroom their is a tiny toilet for them so they dont have to leave the classroom.
So all in all a great first day, may it continue ...please!

In Hampshire there are two of the Free Schools which are causing some controversy. Any LOs on here go to them??

Think the water thing is to ensure they have adequate drink, new rule thingy, glad they settled well for their first day. Menna starts next wednesday, had a home visit from her class teacher and classroom assistant today,DD said she hardly said a word until assistant went off to play with her. Then DD was worried she may have been a bit too forward, poor Menna cant win.

Home visits, is that a new thing, is it a small class? Never heard of that.

nantotwins - All that worry (by the grown-ups!) and the little ones were great! So glad it went so well for both of them. How sweet that they ran to each other and hugged. Ahhhhh!

twinnanna - I hope it goes as well for your little ones - let us know, won't you.

The clear water bottle thing sounds a brilliant idea - children often don't realise they're thirsty, especially when there's so much going on. Although I do wonder what the staff are instructed to do if they have a child who refuses point blank to drink water.

Ben, our little heart boy, started school yesterday. He missed reception due to his various health problems and went straight into Year 1. I 'phoned him at 7.50 am and he was full of it. He was in his uniform and he had his bag with his project in (the Reception class had been asked to do a book on what they did over the holidays), he had his bag with his PE kit in and wanted to go there and then! When he went in he was a bit shy but by the time mummy and daddy left he was chatting away to the teacher (how rare for him - not ). I 'phoned last night and dil said he was so excited when she collected him and hadn't calmed down yet and that was at 7 pm! Bless.

tizzyb - I'm so pleased Ben enjoyed his first day! No worries about him not telling everyone about it.

I can understand how worried you were (our eldest grandson missed two and a half terms of Reception) but it sounds as though he's going to make lots of new friends and thoroughly enjoy school.

What a lot of you having "first days" and all such lovely stories...long may it continue.
Bet they are all looking dead cute in their uniforms too. Do any not have uniforms? What about your twins Anthea, how is it in gibralter?
