We help with childminding my 2 year old grandson who is due to start at nursery 2 afternoons a week this September. When with us he usually needs a nap about 1ish, though recently started being awkward about it, so we've popped him into his car seat and within 10 minutes he's fast asleep until the car stops.
He does need to rest or he wouldn't doze off and does get niggly if he hasn't snoozed at all. He's probably growing out of it, this in between stage is tricky. Anyone got any tips? |

One of my6 daughters used to still have a nap at 3! I think it is a personal need and if he is going to get stroppy then he needs it. The only thing is IMHO it is better earlier than too late!
BTW Welcome!! |

I used to call them "power naps" as it has been referred to in the modern magazines. It made me sounded less slothful!
It depends on the child and the circumstance, sometimes it is good to get them to have quiet time which may become a nap if they are staying up late for one thing or another. If they look tired and are grumpy then let them have a nap.If not i agree with a set bedtime depending on the age of the child. Not sure of twinnanas code....IMHO(i may have one?) and BTW(bed time welcome)!!!maybe? give us a clue!x |

Many thanks for the comments. I don't mind a power nap myself, given half a chance, rarely happens though. The little lad is away on holiday so I'm expecting a few changes to his routine on his return next Wednesday. Having 2 weeks of Mama and Daddy to himself with other (great) grandparents to hand too will be providing lots of different input to his tiny mind. We wait with baited breath for new insights!

LOL, I was just browsing this thread and I thought "I didn't know twinnanna had 6 daughters!!" Then I read on
![]() Matilda, 19 months, still has a daytime nap, usually after lunch. We had her for the weekend and she refused her nap both days! She seemed none the worse for it, although a bit tired when mum and dad collected her late Sunday afternoon. It's a half hour drive to their house, so I suspect she may have fallen asleep in the car when they left here. It remains to be seen whether she will have her usual nap here tomorrow

i really depended on these naps to get everything done!! It was hard when they stopped all of them.. The twins often fall asleep when we take them out in the car and when Mummy takes them home. Cant wonder at it..they dont STOP all day..

I agree nantotwins, the nap times are very useful!!
Update from daughter. Tilly was asleep within 2 minutes of leaving our house on Sunday! She had a 2 hour daytime nap at home yesterday, no problem. It must be too exciting at Grandmas
