The Grannynetters OdeCreated by Jane in Jane Lawson's Blog
Grannynetters are the ones
Who give example to the sons
Of sons, and daughters too,
Though oft times think they’re
All too few to fill those loving arms of theirs
A place to where they bring their cares.
Through many years of wisdom gained
By work and play and thought obtained,
They know what’s needed, and just when
To comfort, cheer or reprimand
With gentle voice and guiding hand
To grandchildren, if one or ten.
And to their friends on Grannynet
A listening ear is what you’ll get
Some sound advice
On cooking rice
Or how to deal with pesky mice
How to cook delicious bread
And what you really should have said.
They offer solace to the sad
And try to calm the really mad.
They have opinions on a lot
Of topics – some are hot.
But listen well and and mind their manners
Those lovely Grans and jolly Nannas.
So, raise a glass to Grannynet
We really are the nicest set
Of ladies that you’ve ever met.
And, small or tall
Or thin or stout
What everyone is all about
Is being every single day
A granny who will show the way
To all the children in her charge
From tiny tot to very large!
