Welcome to 2012, Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year to all Grannynet members.
Of course none of us know what the year ahead will bring, but I always like the beginning of the year, all new and beginnings.
For us personally some things are certain.
The most important occasion will be welcoming the new editions to the family. My daughter-in-law and my youngest son are expecting twins! I can’t tell you how excited I am, as you will know I already have a beautiful granddaughter who is 12 this year, but I haven’t had any contact with her since 2007, so to be given the opportunity of being a Gran again gives me butterflies. The babies are due in May, so a little while to go yet. Needless to say I apologise already if I bore you with blogs about them! We know already that they are not identical and next week should know if they are boys, girls or one of each.
2012 is also the Diamond Jubilee so lots of exciting things will no doubt be taking place, rumour has it we may do another street party!!!!! Goodness, note to self- make a list this time of what food people will bring – or we will be able to feed the whole district all year, if last year is anything to go by. Watch this space.
August is going to be busy as well, OH and I will be celebrating our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, which I find extraordinary, really does not feel that long. I don’t regret one moment of it, its been fantastic and I look forward to many more years to come. We will have a party of some sort, probably low key in the garden.
It is Olympic year too, what a great opportunity for the UK to do what it does best. Good luck to all competitors and in particular to the thousand of volunteers, without whom these huge events couldn’t take place. It is the true spirit of the Olympics that shines through.
Last but not least, in December I will be 60yrs old, unfortunately I still think I am 12 most of the time, although my body most certainly isn’t!
Reading back through this of course we could just have one enormous party to celebrate all of it… mmmmm need to go away and think about it.
So, whatever you are doing in 2012, live life to the full, enjoy every moment you have with your family and laugh a great deal, in my case at myself.
