UK Retailer Clas Ohlson recruits team of budding fixers, green fingered gardeners and weekend decorators to bolster UK’s practical skills.
Clas Ohlson has been helping people solve everyday practical problems with smart, uniquely useful solutions for over 93 years. But in this new digital age where our knowledge of social media is ever growing, many still don’t know what to do when something needs fixing. Instead they turn to parents, grandparents or the next door neighbour, who often possess the skills and expertise recent generations lack. To stop this knowledge from dying out, Clas Ohlson has launched Clas Acts, a nationwide initiative aiming to recruit and reward skilled individuals to impart their know-how and practical skills to the rest of the nation.
This autumn, Clas Ohlson and Larry Lamb, himself an avid builder and gardener, are on the hunt for members of the public to nominate someone they think has mastered the art of being uniquely useful at facebook.com/clasohlsonuk. If they are a dab hand at fixing, mending or making, Clas Ohlson wants to hear from them. The best and most uniquely useful nominations will be invited to join the Clas Act team, a specially selected group of skilled individuals who will be employed for the autumn to impart their knowledge, answering the nations question for any ‘how to’s’, ‘how not to’s’ and ‘how do you do that’s?’
Larry Lamb, who helps rally the troops with his video hosted on facebook.com/clasohlsonuk, comments “We’ve all got used to computers doing the work for us, it’s a shame the younger generation are losing out on acquiring these practical skills. Our aim is to create a digital home for all of the nation’s useful knowledge so that the younger generations can easily access the vast amount of talent and expertise offered by the over 65’s.”

Think you have a uniquely useful tip or practical skill that others need to know, then head to facebook.com/clasohlsonuk and join Clas Ohlson and Larry Lamb to help encourage a new generation to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty!
