When Learning turns to Laughter...

It's wonderful watching your grandchildren play and learn. While traditional toys such as dolls houses and trikes are still the top traditional favourites when it comes to entertaining children and toddlers, it's important to remember there are lots of new and innovative educational toys on offer too - because you really can make easy learning fun with skills that last a life time.

Being on time, knowing when events will occur and allowing enough time for preparation are great life lessons for children and there are a range of teaching aids on offer. For little ones a sleep trainer clock is perfect to encourage a child to get up AND go to bed at a reasonable hour. The friendly elephant 'wakes up' and 'goes to sleep' at the time you set so it's perfect for children who can't tell the time at all yet. For older ones (from 3-4yrs) starting at school, time teacher wrist watch helps enormously because as well as hours and minutes the face is divided into 'TO' and 'PAST' and fractions of the hour. Being water-resistant, luminous and with an adjustable strap with velcro closure makes it really easy for them to get on and off. The only dangerous thing however is them telling you their own bed time!

It's a big Wide World out there! Chances you have family across the country and perhaps around the world too! Jigsaw puzzle maps and around the world globes are great for pinpointing to children where everyone lives. This natural history museum globe hits our jackpot with lots of added extras, including vegetation zones, political boundaries, sea currents, elevations, depths, and over 4000 place names and capital cities to look out for - there's even a cool dial to illustrate Time Zones at the North Pole. The Explorers Map is a copy of a 1787 original, and illustrates amazing voyages such as those led by Cook and Darwin. Great for history too...

Learning the value of pocket money and that unfortunately it doesn't grow on trees at the Bank of Mum & Dad is an essential - so this clever magnetic money chart is a perfect opportunity to teach your little borrowers that saving is the new spending! If that mantra doesn't go down well, at least with our marvellous metal detector you can be sure any gold treasure in the back garden has been discovered!

Children adore hands-on experiments so put that fascination to good use by exploring the science behind them. From discovering the secret of the perfect bubble formula, to discovering different species around us in ecology, kits & activity books are great to get the imagination firing with lots to be learnt too...

And finally, family games which follow children's curriculum at school are perfect for developing math skills, strategic thinking, problem solving, memory, social interaction and observation with enormous educational value. Plus....they are FUN!!!!

So all in all, perfect to keep for when they grandchildren come to stay... For lots of other ideas on how you can help your grandchildren learn please visit us at www.gltc.co.uk.
