About grannynet.co.uk
My name is Verity Gill and I set up grannynet.co.uk when I had my first child. In February this year I was joined by Charlotte Lloyd Owen with whom I now share the responsibilities of running the site.
My mum is such a help to me as she looks after my daughter once a week. I had always been amazed that she managed to do so without the distractions or support of the large social network that is available to mums like me.
So we thought it was about time someone created a social network for grandparents giving you access to other grandparents at the same life stage and with lots in common. Then the idea grew, so that there became three main objectives to grannynet;
- To provide a place that helps you to make the most of being a grandparent.
- To show you that the internet is the one of the best and most accessible ways to achieve this goal.
- To demand that web-based companies pay attention to, and facilitate your generation.
The most important thing about grannynet is that you feel it is all about you, and that you enjoy being part of a bigger community that will empower you both on- and off-line.
I am sure you are already aware that the internet is a fantastic place to find what you want, and hopefully in grannynet you have found a place that is tailored to fit you perfectly.
Many thanks and please keep in touch,
Verity Gill, Charlotte Lloyd Owen & Verity's mum, Lorna Edwards
